Oo de lally golly what a day shirt I know when she gets older, she will reach out. But for now, we’re just respecting her wishes. When she was a toddler we thought it would be a good time for them to get to know each other, take the weirdness out of having two families. We made arrangements with them and flew our little family across the country to meet her birth family but when we arrived, they didn’t respond to our calls. They weren’t ready. Thank God she had no idea what was going on. We’ve never told her, not wanting to increase her reluctance to meet them. I think this family could have made a more concerted effort to reach out to the birth parents, and to make sure she knew her story. But at the same time, it’s super easy to judge. Perhaps since they didn’t know these people at all, they didn’t want to risk exposing their child to them. But I think in the end, you can’t hoard a human. We always want to know where we came from.
