Never underestimate a woman who understands football and loves Fighting Irish shirt I cared for my demented mother at home by myself. It was extremely hard and stressful work but she was my mother. I was there for her in her need. Not my need. Her need. Just as she was there for me as a child through thick and thin. Because that is what it is about. Giving yourself to another instead of thinking of yourself and having empathy for an extremely vulnerable person totally reliant on you. She is gone now and I have my life back but I am so content that I did right by my mother and cared for her in her time of need. She needed me because she was 100% vulnerable. I don't desert a vulnerable person to just think of my needs. Least of all my own mother. When she was dying she squeezed my hand as if to say thank you. She knew even if she couldn't express it verbally.
