Most of my students don’t say the pledge. And I come from a very conservative community. Zero hand given shirt It’s a free speech thing and whether the sub lined it or not, they had no business questioning the student. That argument of "if you don't like it here live somewhere else" is so frustrating. Each country has its set of problems and it's okay for people to speak out about it and want better for their country and actively try to peruse that. Challenging the problems we see in our country is what allows it and the people in it to grow. What's frightening to me is not just that this happened but that there are people out there defending it and applauding the substitute teacher and the police. Because, you know, freedom and love of country are all about walking in lock-step with those around you and facing persecution if you don't.
